This short film, available on YouTube for the past two years (so yes, you might have seen it already) is a fantastic little film which does what it says in the title.
At the time of writing this, the film has been viewed 7.8 million times.
Written, edited and directed by Ella Fields, the film has a simple premise. A young American girl looks at clothes, cosmetics and activities normally associated with the opposite gender. The twist is that in this film, boys wear dresses and do musicals and girls play sports. Its a simple reversal, but presented really well, and as such is useful for students studying the use of stereotypes in media and how people are represented.
Watching this, you think that what people say to the girl, and how they behave to her, is ridiculous.
Of course, that is the point.
PS, at the time of filming, Ella Fields was only 13 years old.
So have a look at the film. And then, discuss.
