This game started as a way to introduce GENRE to my Media students. We started with a brief look at the genre indicators (or stereotypes – or tropes) that tell you what kind of movie you are watching.
The summary of those tropes is on the tropes page:
Each member of the class was given a different Superhero Bingo! card (each card is slightly different).
And then we watched a superhero movie! Spot a trope, score it off. First to get a line got a prize. First for a full house got a different prize!
The thing is, after the game, their knowledge of superhero genre indicators was better. Result!
So if you are bored in the current COVID-19 lockdown then have a go at superhero bingo (you’ll need to organise your own prizes!)
