The Dark Ladies – Prologue
The Dark Ladies is a fantasy adventure novel. The story has been kicking around in my head for a long time. I think it's time to finally finish writing it.Here is the prologue... Change. It's a strange thing. People say, "a change is as good as a rest". Perhaps. Yet change is difficult - we … Continue reading The Dark Ladies – Prologue
The Gunpowder Plot – A play
Guy Fawkes is visited in the Tower of London by William Shakespeare, who has news of a world-changing conspiracy... Intrigued by the very British phenomenon of "Bonfire Night" and the attempted assassination of King James (and the rest of the government) in 1605, I set out to research and create a little twisty-turny conspiracy play … Continue reading The Gunpowder Plot – A play
“Lucy’s Blue Day” – children’s mental health book
Updated post on this marvellous book…
UPDATED to include YouTube link to the animation, and the Soundcloud link to the author interview on The Braw and the Brave.
I’ve just stumbled across this book which has been written by Scottish author Chris Duke (thanks to The Braw and the Brave for sharing the Facebook post!)
From the Lucy’s Blue Day Facebook page:

The book has also been shared as a short video with narration by Lorraine Kelly, showcasing the illustrations by Federica Bartolini.
I have no connection with the creators of this book other than having a keen interest in Mental Health Awareness as an educator of young people myself, so I’ve copied the links below purely so you can find out more if you are interested.
A deceptively simple story with a powerful message.
And here is the The Braw and the Brave podcast, a full interview with author Chris Duke.

What follows is a relatively concise glossary, partly inspired by existing websites, and illustrated by some screengrabs, for educational purposes. Download link to pdf is below the preview image.
Any essential additions needed? Let me know.
